Overview: This 5 week course will provide basic understanding of the various acting techniques that have been popularized in most acting training. Students who are unfamiliar with these methods will get a great crash course on what is expected to be understand by actors regarding technique. Students who are familiar with these methods, or have had prior training will learn how to expand their technique to something actors often find more palatable, fun, and applicable to all styles and scripts.
Week 1- (3 hours)
Week 2- (4 hours)
Week 3- (3 hours)
Week 4- (3 hours)
Week 5- (3 hours)

- Traditional breakdown overview (objective, actions, given circumstances, character, beats/beads
- Memorization “rules” and methods
- Alternative or additional tools
- Physical Techniques (Gratkowski, Book, Lecoq)
- Amadeus assignment
Week 2- (4 hours)
- Amadeus group breakdown and analysis
- Group breakdown of Amadeus monologue text
- Physical Techniques (Gratkowski, Book, Lecoq)
- Actors share monologues (off book required) and share preparation
Week 3- (3 hours)
- Monologue- Text Breakdown and Performance with Physical Technique applied
- Physicalization of Emotion
Week 4- (3 hours)
- Monologues- Text Breakdown and Performance
Week 5- (3 hours)
- Monologues- Text Breakdown and Performance
